Jackson County sees most COVID-19 cases in a day
Jackson County reported 70 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, the most in a day since the start of the pandemic, raising the number of cases in Jackson County to 1,998, with seven deaths and 130 hospitalizations.
The previous daily record of 69 cases was recorded Friday, Oct. 30.
Josephine County reported another death from the illness Tuesday, raising the county death toll to four. The victim was a 75-year-old man who tested positive for the disease Sept. 28 and died Oct. 29. He had underlying medical conditions. The county also reported two new cases, raising the county’s total to 278. Of those, 16 are considered infectious.
The Oregon Health Authority Tuesday reported nine more deaths and 495 new cases of COVID-19 in the state, raising Oregon’s death toll to 701, with 46,460 cases.
