Jackson County reports seven new COVID-19 cases, one death
Jackson County reported seven new confirmed and presumptive positive cases of COVID-19 and one new fatality Sunday, raising the local total to 11,332 cases with 146 deaths since the pandemic started.
The most recent fatality, an 84-year-old woman, tested positive for the virus May 28 and died Saturday at Providence Medford Medical Center.
The state reported 258 new confirmed and presumptive positive cases and three new fatalities Sunday, bringing the statewide total to 203,252 cases with 2,694 fatalities to date. A total of 198 patients are hospitalized with the virus and 58 are in intensive care.
A vaccination update was unavailable due to maintenance of the tracking system, according to the Oregon Health Authority. The most recent data shows 66.2% of adults in Oregon have obtained at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. In Jackson County, 50.7% of the eligible population is vaccinated and 26,474 more people must become vaccinated to reach a 65% goal.
