Felony arrests

  • Sex abuse — Timothy James Cann, 28, no address available. Medford police Monday arrested Cann on one count of third-degree sexual abuse and two counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held Monday in lieu of $12,000 bail.
  • Assault — James Lyle Lopez, 24, of the 100 block of Crocker Street, Ashland. Jackson County sheriff's deputies Sunday arrested Lopez on charges of assault on a police officer and fourth-degree assault. He was lodged at the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held Monday in lieu of $20,000 bail.
  • Drugs — Fernando Mesta, 24, of the 3800 block of Helms Road, Grants Pass. Mesta made his initial appearance Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. He was booked in the Jackson County Jail and released.

Crime reports

  • Theft — 6700 block of Highway 62, White City. Jackson County sheriff's deputies took a report at 10:36 a.m. Monday of a theft of miscellaneous items valued at $1,800.
  • Theft — 800 block of Taylor Street, Medford. Medford police took a report at 4:30 a.m. Monday of the theft of a radio faceplate and compact discs from an unlocked vehicle. The loss was valued at $850.
  • Vehicle theft — 2210 block of Barnett Road, Medford. Medford police took a report at 12:54 p.m. Monday of the theft of a black 1994 Jeep with North Carolina license SZD-7374. The vehicle was valued at $2,000.
  • Vehicle theft — 700 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report at 5:34 p.m. Monday of the theft of a 2002 Mercury Sable, which reportedly was taken by a family member without permission. The loss was valued at $3,000.
