Burned body found
A severely burned body was found early Saturday in the ruins of a two-unit residence near Happy Camp in Siskiyou County that burned down late Friday.
The body is likely that of Penni Hebrard, 69, who lived one of the two units at 44822 Highway 96 in the Seiad Valley, according to Siskiyou County Sheriff' Department.
An autopsy is scheduled for later in the week to determine the cause of death and identify the body.
A 34-year-old father and his 7-year-old daughter who lived in the adjacent unit escaped the blaze.
The Seiad Valley Fire Department responded to the fire in which several of Hebrard's dogs are also believed to have perished.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Siskiyou Arson Investigation Team.
