Despite sightings, no body found
The search continued Saturday in Medford for a body reportedly seen floating face down in Bear Creek on Friday.
Rescue crews rafted from Railroad Park in north Medford to Central Point.
They came away empty handed a day after two people claimed to have seen a body floating down the creek in swift water.
"The water was a lot faster Friday, which made the search more difficult," said Jackson County Sheriff's Department Lt. Pat Rowland.
On Saturday, police received a third report of a body in Bear Creek. The caller was traveling south on Interstate 5 when she allegedly spotted the body from her vehicle, Rowland said.
"She felt it was a person she saw down there," Rowland said.
Jackson County Fire District 3 rescue crews rafted the stretch at around 4 p.m. They had to cut their way through dense brush below Railroad Park to gain access to the creek.
A helicopter buzzed the area again Saturday afternoon to no avail.
Saturday's search will be the last one until the water level recedes, Rowland said.
"It will make it easier for use when the water recedes," he said.
