Police arrest 4 in attempted robbery of prescription meds

Medford police arrested three men and a woman Sunday afternoon on charges that they attempted to rob prescription drugs from a 48-year-old west Medford man.

Officer Stacey Krouse received the call at 4:02 p.m. and by 4:07 she and other officers had all four in custody.

"They were arrested in five minutes of the crime," said police Sgt. Greg Lemhouse.

Leo James Fleming, 41, was arrested on charges of robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and menacing. He is being held on $1 million bail in Jackson County Jail

Michael Kaipoleimanu Todd, 27, was arrested on charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. He is being held on $1 million bail.

Caleb Ray Hutchinson, 19, is being held on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery. He is being held on $26,000 bail.

Amber Lyn Phillips, 18, was charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. She is being held on $1 million bail.

The addresses of the suspects were unavailable late Sunday.

Lemhouse said Phillips knew the victim and took the men to the victim's house.

"They weren't related but she considered him close enough to rob," said Lemhouse. "It's not uncommon for people to victimize other people, even people they're close to, to satisfy their drug habit."

Lemhouse said Fleming held a knife to the victim and threatened him while the other suspects stole medication.

Lemhouse said Krouse received the call at 4:02 and was at the scene by 4:03. The officer saw a car leaving the scene at 4:04 and pulled it over.

"She made the stop and all the evidence was recovered," said Lemhouse.

He said the address of the victim and the victim's name will be withheld to prevent more attempts to steal his medication.

The victim was not injured, said Lemhouse.
