A 41-year-old man was rescued from a trail on Lower Table Rock after becoming ill Sunday afternoon.
Crews from Fire District 3 were able to reach the hiker and transport him down the trail with the use of their new "one-wheeled cart," said Captain Myron Harvey. The name of the man could not be released Sunday night, Harvey said.
The man was about a mile up the trail when a call for help came in at 2:12 p.m. Crews hiked to his location, strapped the victim to the cart and brought him down to the trailhead parking lot off Wheeler Road in just over an hour. The man was airlifted via Mercy Flights to Providence Medical Center at 3:30 p.m., Harvey said "He was in stable condition when we transported him," Harvey said.
