Pedestrian stabbed in Medford mugging
MEDFORD — A pedestrian suffered a 4-inch cut to his right hand Wednesday when another man attempted to rob him at knifepoint in an alley at Holly and Jackson streets, according to Medford police.
The victim, who was in his 40s, was walking near the alley when the suspect called him over asking for help lifting something, said Medford police Sgt. Jerry Burchfield.
The suspect then demanded that the man hand over his money. The victim refused, Burchfield said.
The suspect pulled a knife, and a struggle ensued, causing the cut to the victim's hand, he said.
The victim was able to strike the suspect and get away, Burchfield said.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male of average height and build, who wore a bulky black coat.
