Felony arrests

  • Rape — Dana William Sword, 22, of the 1100 block of Spring Street, Medford. Medford police late Monday arrested Sword on two counts each of first-degree rape and incest, three counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count each of strangulation and harassment. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of more than $5 million bail.
  • Assault — Kameron William Anderson, 34, of the 700 block of Park Street, Ashland. Ashland police Monday arrested Anderson on charges of felony fourth-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and harassment. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $12,000 bail.
  • Burglary — Rex Allen Stansell, Jr., 44, of the 400 block of Stevens Road, Medford. Jackson County sheriff's deputies Monday arrested Stansell on two counts each of first-degree burglary and aggravated first-degree theft as well as a charge of second-degree theft. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
  • Weapons — Jasin Thomas Owen, 39, no address available. Owen made his initial appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court on charges of unlawful use of a weapon and endangering the welfare of another. He was booked Monday in the Jackson County Jail and released.
  • Robbery — Demetrius Andrew Hawkins, 20, of Everett, Wash. Oregon State Police troopers Monday arrested Hawkins on charges of manufacturing, possession and delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of cocaine, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
  • Robbery — Benjamin Edward Moss, 19, of Marysville, Wash. Oregon State Police troopers Monday arrested Hawkins on charges of manufacturing, possession and delivery of a controlled substance, and carrying a concealed weapon. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail, where he was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail.
  • Mistreatment — Cheryl Ann Brenneman, 53, of the 5100 block of Rogue River Drive, Eagle Point. Brenneman made her initial appearance in Jackson County Circuit Court on two counts of criminal mistreatment. She was booked Monday in the Jackson County Jail and released.
  • Forgery — Dawn Liann Prentice, 35, of the first block of Ivy Street, Medford. Prentice made her initial appearance Monday in Jackson County Circuit Court on a charge of first-degree forgery. She was booked Monday in the Jackson County Jail and released.

Crime reports

Unauthorized use of a vehicle — 1100 block of Crater Lake Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report at 5:36 p.m. Monday of the theft of a 1992 Acura Legend valued at $3,000.
