I-5 rollover not serious
Two men escaped serious injury on Interstate 5 Sunday night when the driver of a sport-utility vehicle reportedly swerved to avoid a collision and the car rolled several times, coming to a stop in the middle of the freeway.
Driver James Dewey Murphy, 32, of Rogue River, and passenger Jole Allen Glen, 34, suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to an Oregon State Police report on the accident, which occurred at about 8:30 p.m. near milepost 45 in the Rogue River area.
Police said Murphy told them his Toyota 4Runner was cut off by another vehicle and that he swerved to avoid a collision. He said he lost control in the gravel on the left shoulder of the freeway, the OSP report said. The car came to rest in the fast lane of the freeway.
The 4Runner was totaled, police said. Both men were transported to Rogue Valley Medical Center; Murphy was not treated, and Allen was treated and released.
Police said the other vehicle involved did not stop.
