A small helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing along Interstate 5 on Friday afternoon.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said high winds and low clouds above the Siskiyou Summit forced the pilot to ground the helicopter near milepost 6 near Callahan's Siskiyou Lodge. The helicopter could remain parked by the interstate throughout the night.
"It doesn't happen often, but sometimes the weather deteriorates at the summit and forces aircraft to land for a while until things clear up," Winters said.
