Search party locates missing man in freezing weather

A 29-year-old Jackson County man was located by a search party Friday after going missing for nearly seven hours in freezing temperatures after he went out to search for antlers, according to the Jackson County sheriff's department.

The man's girlfriend reported him missing at about 8:30 p.m. Friday after searching for him for about five hours, said Jackson County sheriff's Lt. Pat Roland.

A search party of about 30 members of Jackson County Search and Rescue and Jackson County sheriff's deputies searched for him for more than an hour. They located him on Antioch Road between Gold Hill and Highway 62 at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, Roland said.

He did not need medical attention and was returned to his home, Roland said.
