Felony arrests

  • Drugs — Stephen Glen Buning, 50, of Salem. Medford police Monday arrested Buning on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $25,000 bail.
  • Assault — James Thomas Smith, 48, no known address. Medford police Monday arrested Smith on charges of third-degree assault, menacing, harassment and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was lodged in jail on $45,000 bail.
  • Assault — Michael Joseph Atwood, 47, no known address. Medford police Monday arrested Atwood on charges of third-degree assault, menacing, harassment and second-degree disorderly conduct. He was lodged in jail on $45,000 bail.
  • Vehicle theft — Jessica Fawn Sweet, 24, of the 400 block of Sara Way, Medford. Medford police Monday arrested Sweet on a charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was lodged in jail and released on $5,000 bail.
  • Sex offender — Jeremy Ray Rasmussen, 25, of the 1100 block of West Eighth Street, Medford. Medford police Tuesday arrested Rasmussen on charges of failure to register as a sex offender and a parole violation. He was lodged in jail without bail.
  • Drugs — Timothy James Mellor, 50, of the 5300 block of Upton Road, Central Point. Mellor appeared Tuesday in Jackson County Circuit Court on an indictment charging him with possession of methamphetamine. He was booked into jail and released.
  • Drugs — Johnna Bea Melson, 45, of the 200 block of North Holly Street, Medford. Melson appeared Tuesday in Circuit Court on an indictment charging her with possession of methamphetamine. She was booked into jail and released.
  • Vehicle theft — April Lynn Chartrand, 22, no known address. Medford police Tuesday arrested Chartrand on a charge of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. She was lodged in jail on $5,000 bail.

Crime reports

  • Theft — 300 block of Samike Drive, Medford. Medford police took a report at 8:42 a.m. Monday of the theft of miscellaneous items valued at $1,800.
  • Theft — 100 block of Lowry Lane, Medford. Medford police took a report at 12:01 p.m. of the theft of miscellaneous fishing equipment, a "Dungeons and Dragons" book and other items from a vehicle. The loss was valued at $810.
