Felony arrests

  • Drugs — Jacob Norris Smith, 23, of the 2100 block of Taylor Road, Central Point. Central Point police Monday arrested Smith on charges of possession of methamphetamine and failing to appear on a previous methamphetamine case. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $14,000 bail.
  • Escape — Christine Herndon, 38, of the 100 block of Almond Street, Medford. Medford police Monday arrested Herndon on two counts of first-degree trespass, resisting arrest, third-degree escape and second-degree disorderly conduct. She was lodged in jail on $19,000 bail.
  • Drugs — Jesse Daniel Kimbrough, 18, of the 400 block of Earhart Street, Medford. Medford police Monday arrested Kimbrough on charges of possession of a controlled substance and for failing to appear on a charge of driving while intoxicated. He was lodged Monday in the jail and released because of overcrowding.
  • Drugs — Darla LeeAnn Cheek, 21, of the 600 block of South Columbus Avenue, Medford. Medford police Monday arrested Cheek on charges of possession of methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a minor. She was lodged Monday in the jail on $14,000 bail.
  • Drugs — Brian Thomas Kortum, 43, of the 600 block of South Columbus Avenue, Medford. Medford police Monday arrested Kortum on charges of possession of methamphetamine, endangering the welfare of a minor and harassment. He was lodged in the jail on $17,000 bail.

Crime reports

  • Theft — 1300 block of North Riverside Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report at 6:13 a.m. Monday of a break-in and the theft of two chainsaws from a business, as well as vandalism to a window. The loss was valued at $780.
  • Theft — 1700 block of McAndrews Road, Medford. Medford police took a report at 8:21 a.m. of the theft of two SWAT-style rifles and two scopes, as well as vandalism to the window of a vehicle. The loss was valued at $6,540.
