Armed robber sticks up motel in Central Point
CENTRAL POINT — A man walked into the Central Point Holiday Inn Express at 2:30 a.m. Thursday, displayed a gun and demanded money.
The clerk complied, and the robber ran from the motel, at 285 Peninger Road. No one was injured, and the clerk could not see where the man fled.
The robber was described as a white man in his early 20s, with a medium build, about 5-feet-9 and 150 to 160 pounds.
Police would not comment on whether he wore a mask. They added he was not overly aggressive during the robbery.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the crime to call the Central Point Police Department at 541-664-5578.
It was the fourth robbery reported in Southern Oregon since Dec. 30, 2013.
On Jan. 4, Andrew William Baugh, 19, David Alan Ayala, 18, and Cole Alexander Ziegler, 19, were charged with attempting to rob the Stewart Market on Lozier Lane Dec. 30.
Medford police said Ziegler and Ayala kept watch while Baugh allegedly entered the store wearing a Bill Clinton mask just after 8 p.m. and pointed a fake pistol at a clerk. He ran out of the store before the clerk could open the register.
