Foster parent charged with child sex abuse
A Medford man is in jail on charges that he sexually abused foster children in his care, Medford police reported Thursday.
James Eldon Mobley, 77, of the 2100 block of Kings Highway, was arrested April 2, the day Medford police started an investigation with the Department of Human Services' Child Welfare office. He remains in jail on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
While investigating reported sexual abuse of a child in Mobley's care, detectives found a second child that had allegedly been abused, according to a Medford police news release.
Authorities said Mobley has been a foster parent in Oregon since 2008. Police and the Department of Human Services are identifying and contacting every child who was put in his care over the years.
Oregon court records list no prior criminal history for Mobley.
Anyone with additional information about this case is asked to call Medford police Detective Shannon Reynolds at 541-774-2243.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be added, police said.
