Fight leads to stabbing in Medford
A fight involving several people in downtown Medford early Staurday morning left one man with stab wounds, but police haven't made an arrest, they say.
The unidentified victim was stabbed three times in the abdomen during a fight that occurred just before 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Riverside Avenue and East Main Street and migrated down the main drag, according to a news release from the Medford Police Department.
Brandy Butts, general manager of Four Daughters Irish Pub, witnessed three men involved in the fight, including the stabbing victim, running down West Main Street toward the bar at about 1:30 a.m., she said.
"There were two victims, and they were running down the street from someone. They were trying to get away from him when I first saw them," Butts said. "Only one was stabbed ... he was bleeding quite a bit."
Security guards from Four Daughters immediately jumped in and broke up the fight when it reached the sidewalk in front of the bar, and Butts called the police and asked for an ambulance, she said.
Medford police responded to the scene at 1:31 a.m., and the victim was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and allowed to leave the hospital, the release said.
Butts said she saw police take one man into custody, but no arrests have been made regarding the stabbing, the news release said.
Butts said the bar was still busy with customers, and police have identified several witnesses to the fight, which is not suspected of being gang related.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call the Medford Police Department at 541-770-4783.
