Mandatory evacuation ordered in Happy Camp Complex fire
SISKIYOU COUNTY — A mandatory evacuation has been ordered for residents living near the southeastern edge of the Frying Pan-Faulkstein fire burning near Happy Camp, Calif.
Residents along Kelsey Creek Road, Boulder Creek Road west of Boulder Creek, any side roads in that area and Forest Service road 44N24 should evacuate immediately, according to a Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office news release.
Once residents evacuate, they will not be allowed to return until fire officials deem it safe, the release said.
Evacuation centers have been established in Happy Camp at the Karuk Tribal Community Center on Headway Road and at the Siskiyou County Fairgrounds, at 1712 Fairlane Road, Yreka, the release said.
Large and small animals will be accommodated at the evacuation centers, the release said. Large animal transportation can be arranged through the sheriff's department by contacting Jodi Aceves at 530-340-2422. Contact the sheriff's department at 530-841-2900 for additional information.
