Man assaulted with metal pipe in Central Point
Central Point police have identified a person of interest in an assault case where a man was struck with a metal pipe.
The incident took place at about 7 a.m. today at 16 N. Front St. in Central Point. Police responded and found the man before learning that the assault had taken place a few blocks down.
The man was taken to Providence Medford Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Police declined to immediately release details on the case, including the identities of the victim and person of interest and what led up to the assault.
Central Point police are still investigating the case. Police Chief Kris Allison said more details likely will be released by Friday.
