Hit-and-run on Highway 62 leaves man in critical condition
A 41-year-old man is in critical condition this morning after being struck by a vehicle while walking along Highway 62 in White City.
Oregon State Police Sgt. Jeff Allison said the man was walking in the northbound bike lane near the Goodwill Store at about 3:15 a.m. today when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The bike lane lies between the northbound lane of Highway 62 and the right-turn lane into the store.
Police are asking the public's help for information that might lead to the vehicle and its driver.
OSP said in a release this morning the man was transported by Mercy Flights to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, where he is in critical condition. They are not releasing his name until they have notified his next of kin.
OSP troopers from the Central Point Area Command office are investigating the crash. Evidence at the scene indicates the involved vehicle sustained damage to a headlight/turn signal assembly, side mirror and possibly windshield or side glass. It is unknown whether the damage is to the right or left side.
