Cave Junction man cited for assault, DUII following crash
A Cave Junction man was cited by police on third-degree assault, drunken driving and reckless driving charges after a Tuesday night collision on Highway 199 that sent him and two others to the hospital with injuries.
Oregon State Police reported the incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. Jeffrey Londino, 51, was driving north on the highway near milepost 29 when he crossed the center line and lost control of his 1990 Toyota Camry. The vehicle slid sideways, and its passenger front side struck the left front side of a 2008 Nissan Armada, driven by 38-year-old Cave Junction resident Shellyl Burns, as it traveled south.
Londino was transported to Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries and was later cited on the assault, reckless driving and DUII charges. Burns and one of the five passengers in her vehicle were transported to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The highway was closed for about 35 minutes during the initial response from OSP and the Illinois Valley Fire District.
