Crews snuff RV fire on Kane Creek Road
A fire destroyed a fifth-wheel recreational vehicle on Kane Creek Road earlier today and shot a black twist of smoke into the sky visible from Medford.
Jackson County Fire District 3 said the fire was first reported at 10:07 a.m. in the 4600 block of Kane Creek Road, southwest of Gold Hill and about two miles from Interstate 5. The agency responded with a water tender, engine and two wildland units, assisted by three additional water trucks from the Oregon Department of Forestry.
Units arrived on scene and found the trailer ablaze. District 3 Battalion Chief Myron Harvey said crews fought the fire defensively and made sure it didn't spread to any wildlands, allowing the fire to mostly burn out on its own. Crews were able to leave the area by about 12:20 p.m.
No one was injured. The cause remains under investigation.
