Motorcycle crash southwest of Grants Pass kills one
A Grants Pass man is dead after his motorcycle apparently slammed into the back of a sport utility vehicle while traveling at a high rate of speed outside Grants Pass Thursday afternoon, Oregon State Police report.
Oregon State Police reported that 35-year-old Grant Evan Verity crashed his 2008 Honda motorcycle into the back of a northbound Nissan Xterra SUV that was making a left turn onto Hubbard Lane from Demaray Drive. According to witness statements, Verity had been riding north on Demaray Drive and passing other vehicles at high speeds, police said. The crash happened at 4:30 p.m.
Verity was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. He was wearing a helmet. The Nissan driver, George Griffin, 49, of Grants Pass, was not injured, police said.

OSP, Rural Metro Fire, and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
