Alleged stabber charged with attempted murder
A man was stabbed and taken to the hospital Monday evening in Ashland. The alleged assailant was arrested on attempted murder charges.
Ashland police responded to reports of a stabbing at the 1300 block of Quincy street at 9:30 p.m.
Benjamin Charles Williamson, 34, came home and found a man in his house, according to a police report. Williamson is suspected of stabbing the man several times before leaving his residence and calling 911 to report himself. The victim, also 34 years old, was known by Williamson's wife and had been let in by her earlier in the day and was visiting, the report said.
Williamson then left his residence, but called 911 to report himself. He then waited for police to arrive and was arrested for attempted murder and two assault charges.
The victim was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center with serious injuries from multiple stab wounds. His condition was stable as of Tuesday morning.
Williamson was lodged at Jackson County Jail on $2 million bail. His only previous record in this county involved a vehicle registration violation in 2003.
Ashland police detectives are continuing the investigation.
