Woman says she was abducted while jogging on Johns Peak Road
Police are looking for a "scruffy" male with facial hair who a woman says abducted her while she was jogging on Johns Peak Road in Central Point late Thursday morning.
The woman told police a man pulled up in a gray or faded blue minivan at about 11:15 a.m. and kidnapped her. She was taken to a woodland area south of Jacksonville, where she was released, the woman said.
Additional details about how the man got her into the van, the route they took, and what transpired along the way were not available. Police also declined to release the woman's age or what city she lives in.
"We're not releasing a lot more about how it all happened," said Detective Julie Denney with the Jackson County Sheriff's Department, adding the information investigators have is still vague. "We don't have a lot of specifics."
Detectives believe the alleged abductor drove about eight miles before dropping the woman off. About two hours passed between her abduction and when she was found.
Sheriff's deputies are looking for a white male in his 40s or 50s with a thin build and facial hair. The man is believed to be homeless and living out of the minivan.
Anyone with information on the male's whereabouts should contact the sheriff's office tip line at 541-774-8333. Police are hoping to release more details about the alleged abduction as they become available.
"We've already gotten several tips," Denney said.
