Felony arrests

Drugs — Jacob Franklin Vennel, 24, of the 1600 block of Hubbard Lane, Grants Pass. Medford police Wednesday arrested Vennel on charges of possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of third-degree theft, providing false information to police, felon in possession of a weapon and failure to appear on two counts of possession of heroin and second-degree theft. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on $55,000 bail.

Drugs — Glenn Douglas Abney Jr., 20, no known address. Medford police Wednesday arrested Abney on charges of possession of heroin, contempt of court and carrying a concealed weapon. He was booked in the jail and released on his own recognizance.

Drugs — Lucas Taylor Hothan, 22, of the 200 block of Olwell Way, Medford. Medford police Thursday arrested Hothan on charges of delivery of heroin, delivery of heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of heroin, possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest and failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine and two counts of possession of heroin. He was booked in the jail and released on his own recognizance.

Racketeering — Timothy Daniel Johnson, 21, of Klamath Falls. Jackson County sheriff's deputies Thursday arrested Johnson on a warrant charging racketeering. He was lodged in the jail without bail.

Identity theft, forgery — Christina Michele Shaffer, 29, of the 2000 block of South Pacific Highway, Talent. Talent police Thursday arrested Shaffer on two counts of second-degree forgery, five counts of identity theft, five counts of unlawfully obtaining a controlled substance and failure to appear on charges of disorderly conduct, two counts of harassment and two counts of second-degree child neglect. She was lodged in the jail on $66,000 bail.

Crime reports

Burglary — 800 block of Wabash Avenue, Medford. Medford police took a report at 12:10 p.m. Thursday of a burglary to a residence during which a three-quarter karat princess-cut diamond stone, a ring, two handguns, a red ruby diamond ring, a Compaq laptop, a Samsung laptop and a Winchester-brand gun safe were taken. The loss was valued at $6,373.
