12:11 p.m. A Jackson County Sheriff's Department investigator says one man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting this morning outside a convenience store on Table Rock Road.

Detective Sgt. Colin Fagan said the shooting was reported about 10 a.m. in front of the Stop 'N Go near the intersection of Orr Drive and Table Rock Road. Store employees called 911.

A man was shot and killed as he sat in a blue Ford Ranger, Fagan said. A man outside the truck fired about half a dozen shots, according to the preliminary investigation. Deputies found a man matching the shooter's description nearby on Gibbon Road and took him into custody, Fagan said.

Investigators haven't released names or details about the victim or suspect yet. Medford police, Oregon State Police and a Jackson County deputy medical examiner are assisting in the investigation. More details will be released later today.

The store is closed.
