Attempted Murder — James Jay Parker, 51, of the 900 block of Mt Pitt Avenue, Medford. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Parker Tuesday on additional felony charges of attempted aggravated murder, first- and second-degree assault and felony strangulation. Parker was originally arrested Jan. 12 on felony charges of aggravated animal abuse and felon in possession of a firearm. He remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail Tuesday on $1.2 million bail.
Drugs — Jay Weston Short, 28, of the 6800 block of Downing Road, Central Point. Medford police arrested Short Monday on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession. He was booked in the jail and released on his own recognizance.
Drugs — Tyrus Shane Jones, 48, of the 2600 block of Scenic Avenue, Central Point. Medford police arrested Jones Monday on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession. He was lodged in jail Monday on $5,000 bail.
Drugs — Christopher John Kilbury, 24, no known address. Medford police arrested Kilbury Tuesday on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession, and for a parole violation on a previous meth possession charge. He was lodged in jail Tuesday without bail.
Court Appearance — Matthew Forrest Carlson, 32, of the 300 block of Cammann Street, Coos Bay. On Tuesday, Carlson made his initial court appearance on felony and misdemeanor charges of first- and second-degree theft and conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree theft. He was booked in the jail and released on his own recognizance.
Note: Charges have been corrected from previous version. Carlson pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of second-degree theft on April 7 and received 11 months' bench probation, according to court records. Other charges were dismissed.
Drugs — Charles Ray Anthony, 64, of the 8000 block of Division Road, White City. Medford police arrested Anthony Tuesday on a felony charge of methamphetamine possession and a misdemeanor charge of second-degree disorderly conduct. He was booked in the jail and released on his own recognizance.
Drugs — Ryan Paul Jantz, 41, of the 9100 block of Redwood Highway, Wonder. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Jantz Tuesday on a felony warrant charging possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor warrants for driving under the influence of intoxicants and reckless driving. He was lodged in jail Tuesday without bail.
Sodomy — Tanner Ray Sowell, 33, of the 100 block of Daryl Lane, Eagle Point. Jackson County sheriff's deputies arrested Sowell Tuesday on felony charges of first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse and first-degree kidnapping. He was lodged in jail Tuesday on $3 million bail.
Burglary — Medford police took a report of a residential burglary and vandalism at 12:11 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Carmel Drive, Medford. The home's sliding glass door, a ceiling light fixture and an electrical outlet were reported damaged. The damage was valued at $1,100.
