Rogue Valley Mall thieves steal thousands worth of sunglasses and women's underwear

Police are looking for a pair of thieves who reportedly made off with 26 pairs of designer sunglasses from Rogue Valley Mall earlier this week.

Medford police detectives said the theft happened at about 12:45 p.m. Monday at the Sunglass Hut. Surveillance video shows a Hispanic man and woman, both in their 30s, walking into the store. The man donned a shoulder bag, into which surveillance video shows him loading dozens of pairs of designer sunglasses — Gucci, Dolce & Gabanna and Burberry brands among them — while the woman shielded him from view. The man is believed to have stuffed about $8,000 worth of merchandise into the bag before the two walked out.

"They were working in tandem," said Medford police Detective Sgt. Brent Mak.

Police believe the pair are not local and were traveling through the area. Police released surveillance images from the store on its Facebook page, and have shared them with stores in Eugene and Northern California.

Investigators are also working on another large-scale theft that happened less than an hour later at the mall's Victoria's Secret. In that case, Mak said, about $6,000 worth of women's underwear was stolen at about 1:30 p.m. Medford police were still working on getting surveillance video, but Mak said it's likely both thefts are related.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact Medford police at 541-770-4784.

Medford police say this pair is suspected of stealing $8,000 in sunglasses — and perhaps thousands of dollars worth of women's underwear — from the Rogue Valley Mall. submitted photo
