Fire ravages home; one person goes to hospital
TALENT — Despite a quick knockdown by fire crews Wednesday, an early evening blaze may have damaged a Talent home beyond repair, according to a fire official.
One person was transported from the scene to the hospital, but it was unclear if it was because of the fire, said Jackson County Fire District No. 5 fire engineer Matt Hilliker.
Fire District 5 crews were dispatched to a house fire in the 100 block of North Third Street at 5:07 p.m. According to Hilliker, fire rolled through the front half of the home, particularly the living room area. Smoke was visible from blocks away.
"The front half was pretty heavily involved," he said.
Hilliker said the fire was doused within 15 minutes of the call.
"It was a relatively quick knockdown," Hilliker said, adding that it took crews about five minutes to extinguish the flames.
Hilliker said the fire's cause remains under investigation. He said an investigator will be on site Thursday morning to attempt to identify a cause.
