Rollover on Interstate 5 near Ashland leaves two injured
A rollover crash on Interstate 5 near milepost 20 Sunday afternoon sent two people to the hospital.
"They were traveling southbound when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to roll over on its roof," said Engineer Dave Meads of Fire District No. 5.
One of the occupants of the vehicle was able to get outside, but Meads said firefighters used hydraulic tools to open up the rear of the Nissan sedan to free the other occupant.
Firefighters were dispatched at 1:38 p.m. and found the vehicle in the median strip.
Interstate 5 traffic was down to one lane on the southbound side while the vehicle was cleared.
Meads said he couldn't disclose the names of the patients or the extent of their injuries. He said both victims were conscious at the time of transport.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, he said.
