Facebook tips lead to alleged Food 4 Less robber
Police arrested a Shady Cove man Wednesday for allegedly pointing a gun at Food 4 Less employees who caught him shoplifting Tuesday night.
Brian Jermain, 30, was arrested early Wednesday afternoon on felony robbery and misdemeanor menacing charges, following tips received through the Medford police Facebook page.
Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, three store employees confronted Jermain, according to a press release issued by Medford police.
"They believed he had shoplifted some merchandise, and when they confronted the suspect, he brandished a handgun," said Medford police Lt. Kerry Curtis.
During the confrontation at the store, Jermain attempted to run, but employees tackled him, the release said.
While Jermain struggled, he told the store employees he had a gun, broke free and got back on his feet. Jermain allegedly pointed the handgun at three employees before running to his vehicle, described as a black sedan, and fleeing onto Morrow Road.
Medford police posted surveillance photos of the robbery suspect on its Facebook page early Wednesday morning, which resulted in tips that led detectives to Jermain's residence at about 12:45 p.m., police said.
Jermain was taken into custody without incident at his home in the 23000 block of Highway 62.
"We'd like to thank everyone for the outstanding tips we received on the robbery suspect, which were vital in making an arrest so quickly," police said on Facebook.
