Couple robbed on forest road
Jackson County sheriff's investigators hope a video of a white Mercedes on a mountain road will help lead to the capture of three masked men who robbed a couple at gunpoint Thursday while they were parked on a forest road on Anderson Butte west of Ashland.
The men forced the man and woman out of their vehicle and made them lie on the ground while they vandalized the car, stole personal property and fled on foot, according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
A rifle and pistol were brandished but no shots were fired during the hold-up, sheriff's Detective Jason Penn said.
The victims believe their assailants were the same men they earlier saw shooting guns on Anderson Butte, Penn said.
A landowner in the area that day captured surveillance video of a white Mercedes that matches the description of a vehicle suspected to be tied to the suspects, Penn said.
One robber was described as 6 feet tall with a medium build and a goatee, while the other two suspects were described as 5-feet-8 to 5-feet-10, according to the sheriff's department.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Penn at 541-774-6800 and refer to case 17-8866.
