Mazama Village on Level 1 evacuation notice
Mazama Village, the campground at the entrance to Crater Lake National Park, has been put on Level 1 evacuation notice because of recent movement on the Blanket Creek fire.
The advisory does not affect Rim Village, park headquarters or other areas of the park, though some trail closures on the west side remain in effect. Rim Drive is open.
The 9,299-acre Blanket Creek fire is one of three large blazes burning in the High Cascades Complex near Crater Lake. The others are the 5,625-acre Spruce Lake fire and 3,314-acre Broken Lookout fires. Containment on the High Cascades Complex is estimated at 44 percent, a downgrade from recent 60 percent containment estimates.
The following trails in Crater Lake National Park remain closed:
- Pacific Crest Trail, from the park boundary to Highway 62 and from the intersection of Dutton Creek Trail north to the North Entrance Road
- Boundary Springs Trail
- All of Bald Crater Loop Trail
- Bert Creek Trail
- Lightning Springs Trail
- Union Peak Trail
- Stuart Falls Trail
- Pumice Flat Trail.
