Central Point woman jailed on murder charge

A Central Point woman going through a divorce has been jailed after allegedly murdering her husband.

Louise May Richards, 62, who lives on Victoria Way, is being held in the Jackson County Jail without bail.

Central Point police identified the deceased man as her husband, Terry Alan Richards, 70, of the same address. Police declined to say how he died.

On Monday at about 4:30 p.m., Central Point police were called to Victoria Way on a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they found a dead male and another person at the home. The male appeared to have injuries consistent with homicidal violence, police said.

Louise Richards was arrested at the scene, according to Central Point Police Chief Kris Allison.

The couple, who were married in Jacksonville in 2004, were going through a divorce, according to court records. Louise Richards petitioned for divorce in September 2016.

"Irreconcilable differences between the parties have caused the irremediable breakdown of their marriage," the petition said.

Richards asked to receive the Victoria Way home, with the contents divided between her and her husband.

They had been going through arbitration this year, court records show.
