Rollover in Merlin kills Grants Pass man
MERLIN — A Grants Pass man died in a single-vehicle rollover Monday night.
Kirk Anthony McGrath, a passenger in a 2006 Dodge Stratus that hit a tree on Plumtree Lane, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, Ryan Justin Pavlich, 23, of Grants Pass, was not injured and was lodged in the Josephine County Jail on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, second-degree manslaughter, third-degree assault, reckless driving and reckless endangering.
Pavlich was driving northbound on Plumtree Lane about 5:45 p.m. when his Dodge left the road, struck a tree and came to rest on the west side of the road. Oregon State Police said Pavlich showed signs of impairment and a DUII investigation followed.
A second passenger, Falyn R. Gilchrist, of Grants Pass, was not injured, but was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
