Two squatters arrested for ransacking house
CENTRAL POINT — A man and woman are in jail after deputies found them inside a vacant house in the 2600 block of Old Stage Road Thursday, according to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say the two suspects — along with other squatters — have ransacked the property over the last year.
At 1:33 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to an alarm at the residence and found two people trespassing. They were identified as Alonso Miguel Ramirez, 37, and Kristine Lucille Stone, 39, described in the news release as transients in the Medford area.
Ramirez and Stone were lodged in the Jackson County Jail on burglary and trespass charges. Ramirez had two warrants for his arrest for possession of meth and failure to appear on a theft charge; Stone was held for a probation violation. Jackson County Animal Control took custody of a dog found at the property, the release said.
Deputies have responded to the same location numerous times in the past year relating to problems with trespassers. They have also responded to two alarms there since the first of the year; this is the first time trespassers were present when deputies arrived to investigate, the release said.
