Grants Pass man arrested in child abuse case
A Grants Pass man with ties to Rogue River faces Josephine County felony charges alleging he abused a preteen girl.
Daniel Michael Cooley, 18, of the 1600 block of Medart Lane, Grants Pass, is set to be arraigned Thursday in Josephine County Circuit Court on felony sexual abuse and unlawful sexual penetration charges that allege he abused a victim in his home when she was 12 years old and younger, according to court records.
Until about February, Cooley had a Rogue River address in the 400 block of Placer Street, according to a court filing in the case. Cooley remains lodged in the Josephine County Jail on $100,000 bail, jail records show.
He lived at the address about two years, and police allege that abuses occurred over a period of several years in multiple Oregon counties, according to the release. Police are still investigating the case, and say additional charges may be forthcoming.
On Tuesday, a Josephine County grand jury indicted Cooley on two felony counts of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Oregon State Police detective Bryan Scott at 541-618-7957, and reference case 18-094256.
