UPDATED: Two-vehicle crash snarls traffic on Siskiyou Summit
A two-vehicle crash on the Siskiyou Summit blocked both lanes of northbound Interstate 5 Friday morning, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
The crash was reported just after 8 a.m. at milepost 1, just north of the Oregon-California border, according to a news release. A Toyota Tundra reportedly ran into the back of a semi truck.
“It sustained some major damage,” ODOT spokesman Gary Leaming said.
Jackson County Fire District No. 5, Oregon State Police and ODOT responded to the scene.
The driver of the Tundra was transported to a local hospital with injuries. It isn’t known whether the driver was the only one in the vehicle, or the severity of the injuries sustained.
Traffic had to pass on the shoulder for more than two hours, with both northbound lanes reopening at 10:16 a.m., according to ODOT.
