Four people are reportedly displaced following a midday fire to an Ashland apartment building.

Fire reportedly broke at Complex F of the Stratford Apartments at 12:17 p.m. Wednesday, according a press release issued by Ashland Fire & Rescue, damaging one apartment unit, and portions of the apartment building’s office and a separate unit’s bedroom.

Within one minute of the first call, emergency responders including Ashland Fire & Rescue and Jackson County Fire District No. 5 called a second alarm to the complex located at 585 Clay Street, according to Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon reports. Crews reportedly witnessed flames coming out of an apartment window.

The flames, however, were knocked down within 11 minutes, according to the fire department.

Two adults and two children were displaced because of fire and smoke damage and loss of electricity, according to the American Red Cross and Ashland Fire & Rescue. No people or pets were injured.

The fire’s cause was under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon, but the fire department said the fire started on the exterior of the building.
