SWAT arrests man accused of sharing child porn

A man accused of sharing images of child sex abuse online was arrested after a Special Weapons and Tactics Team surrounded his west Medford home.

Jeffery Andrew Ford, 54, was arrested on a dozen felony child pornography charges Wednesday morning at his home in the 300 block of De Barr Avenue, according to a news release issued by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office SWAT team surrounded Ford’s home while detectives served a search warrant, according to the release. Ford was arrested without incident.

The arrest followed an investigation of Ford that started in January, according to the sheriff’s office. The Oregon Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children task force contacted sheriff’s detectives about the alleged online sharing of multiple illicit images depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Ford was being held Wednesday on six counts of first-degree encouraging child sexual abuse and six counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse — all felonies — with bail of $105,000.

One count alleged that Ford downloaded or possessed child pornography, while others alleged he shared or provided the images, according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Julie Denney.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call sheriff’s Det. Steve Bohn at 541-774-6188 and refer to case 19-4412.
