Jackson County SAR crews still trying to locate missing woman
An 80-year-old woman with dementia who has been missing since walking away from her home Saturday evening still has not been found, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue division reported.
Geraldine “Gerry” Hendricks, 80, reportedly walked away from her home, in the 4400 block of Obenchain Road, northeast of Eagle Point, sometime after 6:15 p.m. Saturday, a news release said. Emergency dispatch received a call from Hendricks’ family at 6:44 p.m.
Search-and-rescue personnel responded to the area Saturday night and used K-9 teams to try and find Hendricks, but were unsuccessful in the initial search.
Crews resumed the search Sunday and brought in additional help from Josephine, Douglas, Klamath and Modoc counties. Oregon State Police and a private fixed wing aircraft from the Civil Air Patrol also came to aid crew members. Sunday searchers utilized ground teams, dogs, ATVs, hasty rigs and drones.
The search continued Monday. Search-and-rescue personnel are asking people to stay clear of the search area — described as the general area surrounding Hendricks’ home — so teams can be managed more effectively.
Hendricks is described as 5-feet 2-inches tall, weighing about 100 pounds with short dark gray hair. She was last seen wearing a pink flannel long sleeved pajama set. Anyone with information about the case should call non-emergency dispatch at 541-776-7206.
