Second vehicle involved in reckless Medford chase located

A damaged Chevy Suburban that engaged in a physical duel with a Subaru that included a wrong-way chase on Riverside Drive earlier this week was turned into a Medford Enterprise Rent-A-Car office a state away from where the driver picked up the keys

The rental vehicle, rented in San Francisco, was dropped off at the Medford airport Enterprise offices at 3:52 p.m. Friday, Medford police said. The agency is following up with the San Francisco rental office to get more information about the original renter, whom they declined to identify until they can make contact and get more information.

“All the parties are in the wind,” said Medford police Lt. Mike Budreau.

The Suburban got on law enforcement’s radar Tuesday when police received reports at 7:53 p.m. of the two vehicles engaged in what appeared to be a duel on Franquette Street near the post office. A few minutes later, a passerby captured video of the Suburban fleeing from the Subaru, with both vehicles turning the wrong way onto Riverside Drive from East Ninth Street.

Police found the Subaru disabled and abandoned on Stewart Avenue near the railroad crossing that same evening.

No descriptions of occupants in either vehicle were available, and reasons for the fracas are still not known. Anyone with information is asked to call Medford police at 541-770-4874. The case number is 19-20765.
