Murder victim was shot in the head
A man killed by his roommate outside Central Point late last month died from a "single gunshot wound to the head," according to newly released information issued by the Jackson County District Attorney's office.
David Vaughn Bullard, 49, was indicted Wednesday by a grand jury on a single count of second-degree murder in the Nov. 22 shooting death of 38-year-old Nicholas Patrick Kubasiak, according to a release issued by the Jackson County District Attorney's office.
The grand jury heard testimony from four police officers and two civilian witnesses in the shooting in the 6600 block of Ponderosa Street, according to the release and earlier news reports.
Bullard and Kubasiak each rented a room in the same residence, police stated previously. An autopsy was performed on Kubasiak the day after the shooting, but its findings were previously withheld.
Oregon court records show no prior criminal history for Bullard. Court records show Kubasiak, however, had one felony drug conviction and numerous misdemeanor arrests between 2006 and 2019.
