Police investigate Jacksonville deer attack

Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife investigators are looking into a deer fawn's death by dog mauling at Jacksonville Elementary School.

At 11:06 p.m. Nov. 30, school security cameras captured a woman walking two larger breed dogs and attempting to gain control of the pets, according to an OSP release issued Wednesday.

Some 20 minutes later, surveillance cameras show one of the dogs returning to school grounds and engaging in a 12-minute attack on the young deer before the wild animal appears to die.

Police made contact with the woman Wednesday evening, and the case remains under investigation.

One dog attacked the fawn for about 12 minutes before the animal died, according to OSP.
