Brown seeks applicants for Justice Court judge

There’s a job opening on the Jackson County Justice Court.

Gov. Kate Brown announced in a press release Wednesday she is accepting applications for the vacancy created on the court when Justice of the Peace Joe Charter won election in May to serve on the Jackson County Circuit Court.

Brown thanked Charter for his service on the Justice Court and said she would fill the position by appointment.

Charter was elected to his current position in 2004 and headed Jackson County’s Justice Court in Central Point, handling traffic court and municipal code violations for the county, except those within Medford and Ashland. He defeated Circuit Court Judge Lisa Grief in May.

Charter’s resignation from Justice Court takes effect Dec. 4, according to the press release.
