Felony arrests

Assault — Maegan Eileen Smedley, 35, of the 300 block of Yew Wood Drive, Shady Cove. Jackson county sheriff’s deputies arrested Smedley Friday on felony warrants charging her with second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, strangulation and coercion, and on misdemeanor warrants charging her with menacing constituting domestic abuse and fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence. She remained held in the Jackson County Jail Saturday on $100,000 bail.

Drugs — Richard Wallace Carlyle II, 39, of the 800 block of Faith Avenue, Ashland. Ashland police arrested Carlyle Saturday on a felony charge of possessing methamphetamine, a misdemeanor charge of tampering with evidence, a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended or revoked, a misdemeanor warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous driving while suspended charge and on a warrant for violating his parole on a prior conviction for possessing a forged instrument. He was held in jail Saturday without bail.

Arson — Christian Harrison James, 29, no known address. Medford police arrested James Saturday on a felony charge of first-degree arson and on two misdemeanor charges of reckless burning. He was held in the Jackson County Jail Saturday on $30,000 bail.

Weapons — Hunter Alan Morin, 29, of the 1100 block of Comet Avenue, Central Point. Medford police arrested Morin Saturday on a felony charge of felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked in the jail and released Saturday because of reduced capacity at the jail due to COVID-19.

Weapons — James Adelbert Russell, 37, no known address. Medford police arrested Adelbert Saturday on a felony charge of felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor charge of driving while suspended or revoked. He was held in jail Saturday on $12,500 bail.
