Drivers identified in fatal White City crash

Oregon State Police named an Eagle Point woman as the driver who died in a two-vehicle crash outside White City.

Sheila Johnson, 64, of Eagle Point, died Wednesday evening following a crash on Highway 140 near the Crater Lake Highway intersection, according to an OSP release.

At about 4:05 p.m., a driver identified as Daniel Mejia, 21, of White City, was driving a Chevy Silverado pickup eastbound on Highway 140 when the truck crossed into the westbound lane and struck Johnson, who was driving a Chevy Lumina sedan.

First-responders, including Jackson County Fire District 3, Mercy Flights paramedics and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, pronounced Johnson deceased at the scene, according to OSP.

Highway 140 was closed until about 7 p.m. Wednesday while OSP investigated the crash.

Mejia had not been cited in the crash as of Thursday afternoon, but OSP Capt. Tim Fox said in an email that the crash remains under investigation.
