Evacuation level for Ashland-area fire downgraded
The evacuation level for residents closest to the Grizzly Creek Fire near the Dead Indian Memorial Road and Keno Access Road junction outside Ashland was downgraded from a level three “Go” to a level two “Be Set” Sunday afternoon.
The joint decision by the Oregon Department of Forestry and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office impacts the residents of 10 homes near the junction. The move comes following the completion of a fire line, as crews were expected to reach 15% containment before night operations began Sunday.
Evacuation level two is still in effect for resorts and campgrounds around the Howard Prairie Lake area.
