Rape suspect may have other victims, Central Point police say
A Medford man is accused of raping an underage girl, and Central Point police said they believe more victims could be out there.
Jaray Bougcaire Thomas, 19, is charged with felony first- and second-degree rape on accusations he forced himself on a victim younger than 14, according to a grand jury indictment filed earlier this week in Jackson County Circuit Court.
The indictment accuses Thomas of furnishing alcohol to the victim during the alleged Sept. 22 sexual assault, and a separate rape charge accuses him of engaging in intercourse with the victim when she was mentally incapacitated.
Central Point police arrested Thomas Oct. 8, but detectives said they’ve since found “reason to believe this may not have been an isolated incident,” according to a press release issued Friday.
Thomas was arraigned Tuesday. He remained held Friday in the Jackson County Jail on $500,000 bail.
Anyone who may have information about Thomas is asked to call Central Point police at 541-664-5578, ask for Det. Joe Vargas, and reference case No. 20-6770.
